§ Mr. Stokesasked the Secretary of State for War whether the report on the cost of certain Militia camps in England, which have been indicated to him more precisely, has yet been received; whether he is aware that these camps are reputed to have cost approximately £400 per militiaman, whereas the estimated cost by the War Office was £120, and that of the White City flats constructed by the London County Council inclusive of all expenses is below £166 per head; and what steps he is taking to prevent such undue expenditure in the future?
§ Mr. StanleyThough I have not yet received final figures for the camps which the hon. Member has in mind, I have grounds for believing that the rate per head will prove very much lower than he anticipates.
