Mr. Rostron Duckworthasked the Secretary of State for Air in view of the not unexpected entry of Italy into the war and the consequent suspension of the 461W Empire air mails to Africa and the Far East, why no steps were taken in advance to prepare a similar service on an alternative route in each case?
§ Sir A. SinclairArrangements were made in advance to provide a service by an alternative route to meet the eventuality referred to by my hon. Friend. Recent events have, however, necessitated modification of these plans. As soon as it is practicable the carriage of Empire air mails will be resumed as part of the load carried on this route.
