HC Deb 25 June 1940 vol 362 c315W
Mr. Sexton

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether patents in the ownership of persons and / or companies in enemy countries are being manufactured under licence by the Government of this country, and whether royalties payable for such manufacture will be paid into the Treasury towards the cost of the war, and not, as was the case in the war of 1914–18, paid to the foreign owners of the patents?

Sir A. Duncan

The royalties reserved in licences for the working of enemy-owned patents, granted under emergency legislation to persons who are not enemies or enemy subjects, are made payable to the Custodian of Enemy Property. The ultimate disposal of such royalties will be decided at the end of the war.
