HC Deb 04 June 1940 vol 361 c780W
Sir J. Lucas

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs whether he is aware that Canadian subjects born in Canada who were in England at the beginning of the war are unable to join the Canadian Forces unless they first go back to Canada to do so; and whether, to save time and expense, he will consult with the proper authorities to have this grievance remedied in approved cases?

Mr. Shakespeare

The matter is one for His Majesty's Government in Canada, and it would not be appropriate for His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom to take any action on the lines suggested.
