§ Mr. Gledhillasked the Minister of Agriculture who is responsible for the insurance against accident of the school children sent to do farming work under the holiday farming scheme?
Mr. HudsonCounty war agricultural executive committees have been told to insist that farmers employing schoolboys should insure against accidents for which they may be liable. As the boys will not, as a rule, be directly employed by the farmers, it will be necessary for farmers' policies to be endorsed by the insurance companies so as to give the boys the equivalent of the protection afforded by the Workmen's Compensation Acts. Schools have also been advised to see that they are covered for any liability which they may incur. In addition, a Personal Accident Insurance Scheme has been drawn up by the principal insurance companies under which schoolboys may obtain additional cover on the payment of a small premium.
