§ Dr. Littleasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that, notwithstanding the understanding that ex-service married men serving in the Royal Ulster Rifles should have week-end leave to visit their families, they have been deprived of this privilege for several weeks past; and whether he will give orders that soldiers shall have their weekend leave, as promised, granted to them in future?
§ Mr. EdenI regret that, in present circumstances, it has been necessary to suspend all leave, unless exceptional reasons exist for granting it, and I think the necessity for this is well understood.
