HC Deb 04 July 1940 vol 362 c1032W
Mr. Gallacher

asked the Secretary of State for War how many Spaniards, evacuated from Dunkirk with members of the British Expeditionary Force, are still in gaol or internment camps in this country; and whether he will, with a view to utilising their services, release all such men who are anti-Fascist refugees from Republican Spain who served as volunteers in a labour corps in France and fought alongside British troops prior to evacuation?

Mr. Law

The number of Spaniards evacuated from Dunkirk and still detained in this country is between 200 and 300. Their disposal is under consideration.
