§ Mr. Mortasked the Minister of Transport whether he will cause inquiries to be made into the closing of a pathway bridge over the Great Western Railway at St. Thomas, Swansea, which gave quick access to the Prince of Wales Dock, and now that it is closed workmen have to walk a long circuitous route to get to their work; and, as this bridge also affects the businesses of the locality and people do not shop in the area as a result of the closing of the bridge, will he take steps to ensure its opening as it was open during the last war?
§ Captain WallaceIt was decided at the outbreak of war that in the interests of national security this footbridge, which crosses a number of railway lines and junctions in the dock area, must be closed to the public. In the circumstances, I regret that I am unable to comply with the hon. Member's request that the bridge should be reopened.
