Mr. David Adamsasked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been drawn to the danger of decline in standards of purity of food retailed to the public owing to inspectors being transferred to other work; and whether he will take steps to ensure that food inspection is maintained at a high level, with a view to obtaining the best possible results from the available supply?
§ Miss HorsbrughMy right hon. Friend has no information to show that the level of food inspection generally is not being maintained, but if the hon. Member has any evidence of such a decline in standards and would be good enough to submit it to him I can assure him that the matter would receive his careful consideration.
