§ Colonel Wedgwoodasked the Minister of Economic Warfare to what extent concessions granted to various neutral countries to import goods in excess of their own requirements interfere with the effective enforcement of the blockade; and whether, in view of the supreme importance of the success of the blockade, he will in future adopt a firmer attitude towards the demands of neutral countries for such concessions?
§ Mr. CrossIn so far as we have agreed that neutral countries may import specific commodities in excess of their current requirements, we have done so only because we are satisfied that there are adequate safeguards to ensure that the stocks which will be accumulated in this way will not interfere with the effective enforcement of the blockade. The second part of the Question therefore does not arise.
