Mr. Temple Morrisasked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the compulsion which rests on landlords at the present time to accept non-economic rents of new flats, he will consider legislation providing that the Rent Restriction Act shall not apply to premises erected or first let after 3rd September, 1939?
§ Mr. ElliotI do not consider that action of the kind suggested by my hon. and learned Friend is called for at the present time. The Act to which he refers is an emergency Measure which will cease to be in force six months after the end of the war, when it will be necessary to review the position in the light of the conditions then existing.
