HC Deb 21 February 1940 vol 357 c1385W
Sir T. Moore

asked the Secretary of State for Air to what extent architects are employed in connection with plans for the erection of camps and hutments for the Royal Air Force men in various parts of the country; and whether, with a view to improving the quality of the planning and ensuring the maximum efficiency and economy, he will arrange for the increased employment of architectural consultative services?

Sir K. Wood

Qualified architects conversant with the special requirements of the Royal Air Force are employed in my Department. These officers have the advantage of close and continuous consultation with the Service authorities both at headquarters and in Commands, and I do not consider that greater efficiency or economy would be achieved by the adoption of my hon. and gallant Friend's suggestion.
