§ Major Carverasked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will state the policy of his Department in respect of the holding of agricultural and similar shows in this country during the period of the war?
§ Sir R. Dorman-SmithThe Ministry is not encouraging the holding of agricul-974W tural and similar shows during the period of the war. This policy is supported generally by the show societies, and I understand that practically all the larger and most of the county and district agricultural shows have already been abandoned for this year. I should like to take this opportunity of suggesting that in the event of a society still wishing to hold a show, the chief officer of police should be consulted as to the requirements of the Public Entertainments (Restriction) Orders.
