§ Captain Pluggeasked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether he is aware that under the present arrangements the question of the release of skilled men from the Fighting Services for employment in any particular factory is one for consideration by the Service Department in the light of representations that may be made to them by the Department which is interested in the products of the firm making the application; and what Department is responsible for making representations about the release and retention of key workers in the main export industries of the country which are not mainly concerned with Government contracts?
§ Mr. R. S. HudsonYes, Sir, I am aware of the arrangements outlined in the first part of the Question. With regard to the second part, in order to ensure that full consideration is given to the question of the release and retention of key workers in export industries, it has now been arranged that the Department of Overseas Trade should be responsible for making representations to the Service Department concerned.
