HC Deb 06 February 1940 vol 357 cc62-3W
Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Transport (1) whether he will have inquiries made regarding the prolonged delay of the Shropshire, Worcestershire and Staffordshire Electric Power Company in providing electricity at Stoulton, Worcestershire, seeing that the matter is of national importance, with a view to procuring the maximum output from the farms of this district;

(2) whether he will have inquiries made into the prolonged delay in providing Drakes Broughton, Pershore, Worcestershire, with electricity by the Shropshire, Worcestershire, and Staffordshire Electric Power Company; and, with a view to expediting this matter, will he confer with the Ministry of Supply for the necessary material to be made available, since the whole village has been surveyed and the necessary points fixed, and all the way-leaves are now in order, and the supply is needed with a view to securing the maximum output from the farms in this district?

Captain Wallace

The question of the supply of electricity in the areas to which my hon. Friend refers has been, as he is aware, the subject of careful consideration by the Electricity Commissioners, and under existing conditions I do not feel that I can intervene further in the matter.
