§ Mr. Keyasked the Home Secretary whether, for the purpose of demanding and examining identity cards and of immobilising motor vehicles, special constables in civilian clothes, but wearing authorised armlets, are vested with the same authority as police officers in uniform?
1484W
§ Sir J. AndersonI have no authority to determine any question of law that may be involved; but there is no practical reason why special constables should not carry out these duties, for a special constable wearing an armlet can readily be identified as a police officer and, in any case of doubt, can be requested to produce his warrant card.
