§ Mr. NicolsonAs soon as it was decided to discontinue the "Silent Column" ad 457W vertisements, instructions were given to cancel as many as possible of those which had not yet appeared. In most cases this was done, but in certain other cases cancellation was found to be impossible as the publication concerned had already gone to Press. As regards the latter part of the Question, the Ministry of Information was not responsible for any references to the "Silent Column" which may have appeared on the news films.
