§ Mr. Thorneasked the Minister of Transport whether he can give any information in connection with the death of two sisters evacuated from Dover and who were killed at a level crossing at Undy, near Newport, Monmouthshire, on their way to school on Monday, 8th July?
§ Sir J. ReithThe railway company inform me that the accident to which my hon. Friend refers occurred on 9th July when I very much regret to say that two children were killed by a train while using a public footpath crossing. A verdict of "Accidental death" was given at the inquest and I understand that the coroner was satisfied that the enginemen could not have done more to prevent the accident.
