§ Captain Nieldasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether it is permissible for parents who have evacuated their children to Canada or to the United States of America to lodge securities at banks in this country so as to enable Canadian or American banks to advance money for the maintenance and education of such children; and whether the Government will give any guarantee which will encourage Canadian and American banks to make such advances?
§ Sir K. WoodNo, Sir. I regret the arrangement would not be permissible.
