§ Sir J. Mellorasked the Home Secretary whether he will make a statement with regard to the withdrawal from circulation of the memorandum on the Truck Acts, published by authority of the Home Office in June, 1937; and whether a revised edition is in process of preparation?
§ Sir J. AndersonI recognise that in the 1937 and earlier editions of this memorandum two passages in Part 13, relating to exceptions to the Truck Act as regards the provision of food and certain other things to the workman, do not accurately describe the law as since interpreted by the House of Lords. Steps have been taken to suspend sales of the 1937 edition, and further action will be considered in relation to the proposals for legislation which I announced to-day.
