§ Mr. Harveyasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether, in the case of applicants who have volunteered for special Government work for the present emergency and are selected for interview, travelling expenses will be allowed if they do not receive the appointment in view of the fact that in some cases they have offered to give up their present positions and forgo financial advantage in order to render more effective national service?
§ Captain CrookshankPersons on the Central Register for National Service, who are invited or recommended by the Ministry of Labour to attend for interview in connection with the filling of vacancies in the Government service, may be refunded the expenses necessarily incurred on travelling to and from the place of interview, subject to a maximum of the appropriate third class rates of travel.
