§ Mr. Gallacherasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether his attention 1611W has been drawn to a letter sent to the dependants of serving soldiers, from the treasurer of the Fife County Council, threatening them with eviction because of their inability, at the moment, to pay high rents; and will he consider taking the matter up with the Fife County Council, with a view to preventing anything similar in the future?
§ Mr. ColvilleYes, Sir. I am informed that the letter to which the hon. Member refers was sent in error to men serving with the Forces and that the county council will issue an explanatory letter to each serving man to whom it was addressed. I understand that the county council also intend to reconsider the terms of the original letter.
