§ Mr. Grovesasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of the growing discontent of doctors in relation to the unsatisfactory arrangements made in connection with first-aid posts, by reason of their frequent attendance for the purpose of ensuring efficiency should an emergency arise, and of the fact that they do not know whether they are to be remunerated or are expected to do such work voluntarily; and whether he will make a definite statement explaining the precise position so as to avoid misunderstandings?
§ Mr. ElliotI recently discussed with representative doctors attached to first-aid posts the arrangements already made for training the personnel attached to the posts and the remuneration to which they are entitled under those arrangements. I recognise that some revision of the plan may be required owing to the course which the war has taken up to the present, and I am considering the representations made in the light of reports which I have asked my officers to make on the situation in various parts of the country.
