HC Deb 19 October 1939 vol 352 c1051W
Mr. Touche

asked the Secretary of State for War whether many anti-aircraft units are still living in tents; and whether he can make any statement as to when huts are likely to be provided for such units?

Sir V. Warrender

Hutting for all antiaircraft units is proceeding as rapidly as possible, and, in the meantime every effort has been made to obtain sufficient accommodation near anti-aircraft sites in billets and requisitioned buildings. It is, however, still necessary to accommodate some 18 per cent. of the strength in tents.

At all but one-half per cent. of gun and searchlight sites, it will be possible to dispense with tents by the middle of November, and at the outstanding one-half per cent. by the middle of December. Provision of special heating arrangements for personnel in tents is in hand.
