Rawsonasked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that the curtailment of road work has caused considerable unemployment in granite and whinstone quarries, and the closing down of some of them, including one of the largest in North Wales; whether quarrying is to continue to be a reserved occupation; and whether, until such time as its products are used for road purposes, he will consult with the war, air, and home Defence Departments with a view to their use as far as possible for making concrete and for structural works of all kinds, as many hundreds of men are receiving out-of-work pay and cannot seek other employment?
