HC Deb 04 October 1939 vol 351 c1974W
Mrs. Tate

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will state the reason for certain officers of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps not having received either their pay or any allowance towards uniform and expenses?

Sir V. Warrender

Without particulars of the cases, I cannot say what the reason is, but the explanation may be that pay is issued monthly in arrear, so that for officers who were commissioned or called up in September the first pay day was not until 30th September. The issue of outfit allowance is dependent on a claim being made by the officer; possibly the officers in question have not put in their claims. If my hon. Friend will send me particulars of any cases of which she has knowledge, with the dates on which the officers joined for duty, I will have inquiries made.
