HC Deb 04 October 1939 vol 351 c1968W
Mr. J. Griffiths

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether he is aware of the fact that the Carmarthenshire Education Committee has rejected a proposal to make arrangements for a mid-day meal in the schools in the county; and whether, having regard to the recommendation in the report on Anti-Tuberculosis Services in Wales, he will endeavour to secure a reconsideration of this matter by the committee?

Mr. Lindsay:

A letter has been received from the Carmarthenshire local education authority which shows that the proposed provision of mid-day meals has been deferred for the time being. In view of the importance of this question the Board propose to write to the authority urging that a modified scheme should be introduced.
