HC Deb 04 October 1939 vol 351 c1988W
Mr. Glenvil Hall

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether, in view of the fact that single fare for double journey imposes hardship on men in the Royal Air Force, he will arrange that free railway warrants may be issued for journeys home when on leave, particularly for the last leave before going overseas?

Sir K. Wood:

Arrangements have already been made for every airman proceeding on leave in the United Kingdom before going overseas to receive one free return railway warrant to cover the journey between his unit and his home. I regret that it would not be possible to make this concession apply to other journeys.
