HC Deb 04 October 1939 vol 351 cc1979-80W
Mr. Parker

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is aware that retired commissioned and warrant writers called up for service have been placed in charge of commissioned accountant officers of the Reserves, of lieutenant's rank and above, in order to instruct these officers in their duties; that when these officers have been trained they will then be placed in charge of the commissioned and warrant officers; and whether, in order to avoid this unsatisfactory state of affairs, he will consider the promotion of a number of commissioned and warrant writers on the active and retired lists in order to perform more efficiently the duties at present allocated to reserve commissioned accountant officers?

Mr. Shakespeare:

I am not aware of any instances in which a Commissioned Accountant Officer from the reserve of lieutenant's rank or above has been placed under the charge of commissioned or warrant writers for instruction. The rest of the hon. Member's question does not, therefore, arise.
