HC Deb 03 October 1939 vol 351 cc1831-2W
Mr. Dobbie

asked the Minister of Health who is responsible for medical assistance to wives and families of men on service with His Majesty's forces; and if he will give an assurance that they shall not be compelled to apply to public assistance committees?

Mr. Elliot

I understand that medical assistance is available at the cost of Service funds for the wives and families of regular soldiers and certain classes of reservists if they are living at or near a Service station. A similar privilege exists in the Royal Air Force.

Apart from these special provisions the medical services provided for the population generally are, of course, available wherever and whenever they are required.
