§ Mr. Manderasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will state the action taken by the British Government in connection with the question of reclaiming from the Bank for International Settlements the Treasury's Trust Account deposit, which has been reinvested in Germany and which Germany has undertaken, by virtue of. the Hague Agreement 1846W of 1930 and the Brussels Protocol of 1936, to permit to be transferred even in time of war?
§ Sir J. SimonI have already stated the position fully in reply to previous questions. I will add that I am advised that the Treasury would not be entitled to claim the repayment of the deposit under the relevant international agreements. For that reason, in addition to those already indicated, no such claim has been made.
