§ Mr. Gallacherasked the Secretary for Mines whether he is aware that the miners at Bowhill Colliery, Fife, are out on strike against a change of system that means a reduction of wages; that the men are willing to resume work on condition that the make-up is continued unaltered during the course of negotiations; and will he take steps to secure a resumption of work on these conditions?

§ Mr. LloydI am aware that there is a dispute at Bowhill Colliery. I understand that the Company are prepared to negotiate as soon as work is resumed. In the event of a settlement not then being reached, I will consult the Fife Miner's Union and the employers as to whether my Department can usefully intervene.
