asked the Minister of Health whether he will give the names of any new urban and rural districts which have been formed and those which have been abolished since 9th March, 1939?

Mr. Elliot

Following are the particulars:

  1. (1) The new urban district of Corby in the county of Northampton came into existence on the 1st April, 1939.
  2. (2) The urban district of Midgley in the West Riding of Yorkshire was abolished as from 1st April, 1939.
  3. (3) No rural districts have been created or abolished since the 9th March, 1939.
  4. (4) The urban districts of Barry, Farnworth and Prestwich became boroughs on the 9th November, 1939.
