HC Deb 14 November 1939 vol 353 c559W
Mr. Maclean

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether submarine chasers are being ordered, or likely to be ordered, in large numbers from the United States of America; and whether the capacity of shipyards in Britain is fully occupied?

Mr. Shakespeare

It is not intended at present to order any of these vessels from the United States of America; in any case this would only be done if facilities for building this type of vessel were not available in the United Kingdom.
