HC Deb 09 November 1939 vol 353 c440W
Mr. Hopkin

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will extend the period for the return of the forms of application for the postponement of military service from two days to seven days?

Mr. E. Brown

A general extension of this time limit would require fresh legislation, but the National Service (Armed Forces) Act gives the Minister discretion to accept an application made more than two days after medical examination if he is satisfied, having regard to the grounds on which it is made, that it has not been unreasonably delayed.
