§ Captain Pluggeasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that certain women clerical and typing staffs employed in the out-stations of the War Office have had pressure brought to bear upon them to join the Auxiliary Territorial Service, and have in certain cases been informed that unless they are prepared to do so they will lose their employment; and whether he will take steps to ensure 236W that this form of intimidation of serving staffs in his Department will be brought to an end?
§ Mr. Hore-BelishaI am not aware of any such cases. The instructions issued have stressed the importance of avoiding the dismissal of any civilian staff in order to create places for the Auxiliary Territorial Service.
