§ Major Milnerasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether he is aware that some 60,000 school-children in the City of Leeds are at present without educational facilities; that this state of affairs is causing serious concern to parents and the local authority; and whether he will indicate what steps he proposes to take in the matter?
Mr. LindsayThe Board have no exact figures of the number of children remaining in Leeds. The position will be modified as effect is given to the decision which I announced in the House allowing the reopening of schools in certain circumstances in evacuation areas.
