§ Sir J. SimonAs explained by my right hon. Friend, the Financial Secretary, in the Debate in the House on the 17th October, it is open to members of the Armed Forces to apply to the Military Service (Special Allowances) Advisory Committee for special monetary assistance in cases where they are unable to meet their financial obligations, whereby serious hardship is caused. The conditions under which assistance may be granted are set out in Command Paper 6043, the provisions of which have been extended to cover all sailors, soldiers and airmen, but, as has already been stated, it is proposed to issue a White Paper dealing further, inter alia, with the question of special allowances.
