HC Deb 02 November 1939 vol 352 c2115W
Sir F. Sanderson

asked the Attorney-General whether, in view of the widespread distress among certain classes of the community, in particular hotel and boarding-house proprietors and garage proprietors, who, on account of evacuation, Government control, restriction of supplies, and other causes attributable directly to the war, are quite unable to meet their commitments for rent and rates, he will consider ways and means of alleviating the resultant position as between landlord and tenant which is fast arriving at a deadlock?

The Attorney-General

This matter is under investigation and I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave yesterday in reply to a question by the hon. Member for Kensington South (Sir W. Davison), of which I am sending him a copy.
