HC Deb 02 November 1939 vol 352 c2139W
Mr. Glenvil Hall

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, in cases where the wife of a serving soldier joins the Auxiliary Territorial Service, marriage allowance ceases to be payable irrespective of any civil obligation the couple may have, such as purchasing a house; and whether the soldier has a right to apply to the Military Service (Special Allowances) Advisory Committee for a supplementary allowance in such cases?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

As matters stand at present, the answer to the first part of the question is in the negative, and, unless and until any different instructions are issued, the second part of the question does not therefore arise.
