HC Deb 02 November 1939 vol 352 c2146W
Sir T. Moore

asked the Minister of Shipping whether arrangements have been made to call the attention of shipping firms to the undesirability of disclosing, both by letter as well as by publication, the date on, and place from which, their vessels sail, in view of the fact that this information could be of the greatest value to the enemy if it fell into his hands?

Sir J. Gilmour

Yes, Sir. Shipping companies have been advised and are being urged to exercise the utmost possible discretion in this matter.
