asked the Minister of Labour whether he is satisfied that the wages and conditions of labour at the Sydney Wake, Limited, studios, now processing a film for the Government, are in accordance with trade union standards; and whether he will take any action necessary to see that such a standard is observed?

The following table shows the numbers of unemployed persons on the registers of the Normanton, Castleford and Pontefract Employment Exchanges at 11th September, 1939 (the latest date for which figures are at present available) and at 14th August, 1939:

engaged on a Government contract the contract will include the Fair Wages Clause, and if there is reason to suppose that the requirements of the Clause are not being carried out representations may be made to the Department on whose behalf the contract is being carried out.
