HC Deb 02 November 1939 vol 352 c2154W
Mr. R. Gibson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many old age pensioners there were in Greenock at the last convenient date; and how many of these were in receipt of public assistance?

Mr. Colville

As the statistics relating to pensioners are not kept on a geographical basis, I regret that the information asked for in the first part of the question is not available. The number of old age pensioners in Greenock in receipt of public assistance at 15th May, 1939, the latest date for which figures are available, was 782.
