HC Deb 02 November 1939 vol 352 c2134W
Mr. J. Hall

asked the Minister of Supply when manufacturers of coal and coke sacks will be enabled to purchase from their usual suppliers hemp sacking, which has been held up since the beginning of September, as manufacturers are faced with the prospect of discharging their employés, although there is a demand for coal and coke sacks?

Mr. Burgin

No restriction is placed by my Department upon the sale of hemp sacking, and the few cases which have been brought to the attention of the Hemp Control of difficulty in securing supplies of hemp for this purpose have been satisfactorily settled.
