HC Deb 02 November 1939 vol 352 cc2145-6W
Colonel Ponsonby

asked the President of the Board of Trade how many control committees have been set up by his Department and for what purpose; what is the present establishment of each, giving number of salaried officials and those in receipt of weekly wages; and what is the estimated annual cost for salaries and wages of each committee?

Major Lloyd George

My right hon. Friend has appointed a controller of imported dyestuffs and a representative committee to advise him. The controller has the assistance of a staff of eight persons whose duties were previously to assist the Dyestuffs Advisory Licensing Committee under the Dyestuffs (Import Regulation) Acts, 1920–34. Of this staff one is in receipt of a salary of £212 per annum and the others are paid by the week. The annual cost of the salaries and wages of this staff is estimated at £1,370. The controller and his committee are unpaid.
