HC Deb 26 May 1939 vol 347 c2695W
Mr. W. R. Duckworth

asked the President of the Board of Trade, whether firms who buy new ships built abroad are equally regarded as entitled to the subsidy as those who build them at home?

Mr. Stanley

The subsidy for tramp shipping proposed in my statement of 28th March is not yet in operation and legislation will be required. The point my hon. Friend has in mind is under consideration and I would ask him to await the publication of the details of the scheme.
