HC Deb 25 May 1939 vol 347 cc2512-3W
Viscountess Astor

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will undertake to give to the smaller firms and manufacturers a fair proportion of the orders for agricultural machinery when creating his war reserve of such machinery?

Mr. Ramsbotham

The primary consideration must be the creation of a reserve of the machinery required as soon as possible. All the principal manufacturers in this country of the kinds of agricultural machinery required for the purpose of the reserve will be given an opportunity to participate in the scheme, and the orders will be shared fairly amongst those who are able to provide the necessary machinery and facilities for storage on reasonable terms.
