§ Mr. J. Hallasked the Attorney-General whether he is in a position to state the number of cases each year in 1932 to 1938, respectively, in which distress has been levied for arrears of rent?
§ The Attorney-GeneralNo, Sir. I would refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave the hon. Member for Romford (Mr. Parker) on the 21st November, 1938, which was in the following terms:—Distress on account of arrears of rent can be levied in England and Wales through a certificated bailiff without recourse to the courts. No statistics, therefore, are available which would enable me to give the hon. Gentleman the information for which he asks.
