HC Deb 25 May 1939 vol 347 cc2526-7W
Mr. Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for War whether any allowance for dependants is granted to B reservists during the period they are called up for training purposes; and, if this is not so, whether he will consider placing them on the same footing in this respect as the militiamen who are shortly to be called up for training?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

It is not proposed to extend dependant's allowance as such to reservists, but they will be eligible for family allowance in respect of their wives and children. It will be open to a reservist to represent any case of special hardship in regard to a dependant to the War Office.
