§ Mr. Ammonasked the Lord Privy Seal whether, owing to the unexpectedly rapid development of the work of the air-raid precautions, the expenditure resulting from the emergency of September last, and the anticipated expenditure under the Civil Defence Bill, he will consider an early investigation into the working of the financial provisions of the Air-Raid Precautions Act, 1937, as set out in Section 10 of that Act?
§ Sir J. AndersonI would refer the hon. Member to the statement on this subject which I made in the course of the Debate on the Second Reading of the Civil Defence Bill on 4th April, in reply to a question by the hon. Member for Stoke-on-Trent (Mr. E. Smith). I am not at present in a position to add to that statement.
